Behind the Scenes Look
Well, Greetings, Everyone!, I’m Denzyl, and I’m excited to take the reins of this blog from the previous author, Jungmin, who did an incredible job of laying the initial foundations of this blog!
I’m 23, born and raised on the beautiful island of Guam, and proudly Palauan. If these two island’s don’t sound familiar to you, they are two of the many islands located in the Micronesia, one of three regions of the Pacific Ocean. I am currently studying Business Administration with an emphasis on Management and a minor in Public Administration at the University of Guam — the only four year, land grant & sea grant institution in the Micronesia.
What’s the Story Here?
Living on Guam, I always found ourselves to be interesting. By ourselves, I mean Micronesians and Pacific Islanders as a whole. We belong to what comparatively are small pieces of lands chucked out across the huge vastness that is the Pacific Ocean. But yet, we are a people that have such rich cultures, languages, traditions, customs, and even bigger yet, the proud heritage we all carry from our ancestors forward.
Our small island economies rely on this cultural richness to fuel our tourism industry, something that is the main driver in all our economies. I’m thrilled to continue exploring tourism around Guam, Micronesia, and the Asia-Pacific region and fuel the cultivation of ideas based on already existing practices within our region.
I’m thrilled to dive into the rich cultural traditions, innovative ideas, and timeless island wisdom that our region has to offer. Through this exploration, I hope to uncover insights that can help strengthen and revitalize our tourism industry, ensuring it thrives while honoring the unique heritage of our islands.
I’ll be diving into the future of Guam Tourism through an introspective lens, looking at already existing practices, potential fixes, and overall sharing of ideas. I aim to bring you a blend of academic insights and real-world perspectives that shed light on the unique cultural and economic ties binding Guam and the broader Pacific with a specialized emphasis on Japanese tourism to Guam.
Whether you’re a fellow researcher, a travel enthusiast, or simply curious about Guam and the Micronesia, I hope you’ll find inspiration and insight here. Let’s continue this journey together!
Thank you for joining me, and I look forward to exploring these topics with you. Welcome aboard!
