Hi, everyone ! I’m Jungmin Suh, a senior student at the University of Guam, School of Business and Public Administration, majoring in business administration with a focus on marketing and tourism. My passion for tourism really ignited during a tourism class, where I discovered how fascinating the industry is. Since then, I’ve been diving deeper into tourism, especially Japanese tourism here in Guam, and I’m excited to share my findings with you. I aim to delve deep into the motivations, preferences, and behaviors of Japanese tourists visiting Guam. Historically Japan had been the primary source market for Guam, but after COVID, it has not recovered as much as the Korean market. According to the Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB), when comparing the number of Japanese tourists this year with 2019 before COVID, it was down 74.6% from 2019. Therefore, my goal through this research is to identify the causes of the decline in Japanese tourists and to find effective ways to restore their numbers. I hope we can gain valuable knowledge to enhance the overall visitor experience and contribute to the sustainable growth of the tourism industry. In the coming weeks and months, I will be sharing a series of engaging articles that explore various aspects of Japanese tourism in Guam. From analyzing the historical significance of Japanese cultural exchange to examining the latest trends in travel preferences, my goal is to provide informative and thought-provoking content. I’m excited to share my findings and insights with you, and I hope that my articles will inspire you to learn more about the fascinating world of tourism. So, stay tuned for exciting updates and join me on this journey of discovery!
